Fatty Acid & Cold Pressed Oils
Key elements in a natural skin care diet, essential fatty acids like omega-3s and omega-6s are the building blocks of healthy cell membranes. These polyunsaturated fats also help produce the skin's natural oil barrier, critical in keeping skin hydrated, plumper, and younger looking. webmd
RSC incorporates numerous fatty acid oils that are used for their healing properties. These are the base of so much that is effective with our products. Not every oil is in every product, they are matched to the needs of range and solution.
FATTY ACID OILS INCLUDE:
Emollient & Carrier Oils
Distinguishing between these two categories is not necessary in RSC products. These are refined and unrefined base oils that deliver emollients to the skin that are similar to the natural oils skin produces. Many are extremely effective in moisturizing the skin. Others are dryer and deliver the fatty acid oils and herb teas and extracts deeper. All are naturally refined or pressed and present in almost all products.
EMOLLENT & CARRIER OILS INCLUDE
Essential oils in RSC products are used to mitigate the herbal smell in some products and as effective anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. The use of EO's is less that .25% in our products. RSC does recognize the need to use essential oils in the process, therefore uses them with extreme care, never leaving our motif is to be as gentle as possible.
Essential oils are compounds extracted from plants. The oils capture the plant's scent and flavor, or "essence." Unique aromatic compounds give each essential oil its characteristic essence. Essential oils are obtained through distillation (via steam and/or water) or mechanical methods, such as cold pressing.
ESSENTIAL OILS INCLUDE:
Emulsifiers are additives that help two liquids mix. For example, water and oil separate in a glass, but adding an emulsifier will help the liquids mix together. RSC uses only plant based binders. Emulsifiers are essential for the creme type products available.
Rich cosmetic butters are used for deep emollient and protective properties. They are rich and naturally pressed to deliver a wide range of nutrients. Dry skin issues and redness are the main targets.
"Preservatives" refers to the functional name for a wide variety of compounds that help slow or prevent bacterial growth in a wide range of products.
Base and Ultramarine Oxides
Oxides are naturally mined and ground that produce the cosmetic foundations and colors. Cleaned and Sifted. Base Oxides are deep and create excellent shades.
BASE and ULTRAMARINE OXIDES INCLUDE:
RSC only uses natural two SPF ingredients. Although oils and butters with natural SPF are used and add value, we do not add them to the calculation of the sun protection. They are there for nutrition and moisture.
SPF INGREDIENTS INCLUDE:
Proprietary Herb Blend
Proprietary herb blends are steeped in distilled water and then let to sit for a minimum of 30 days to create a tea base that is used along with aloe, then infused in the products. A similar method is used with carrier oils. The specs you may see in your products are the herbs infused directly as the product is stirred. RSC considers this an important part of the nutritious base of the products.
RSC soaps are made by using carrier oils and a blend of Potassium Hydroxide and Sodium Hydroxide. The hydroxides are used to change the state of Oil and water to a the natural soap bases that are used to make a variety of creamy cleanses and exfoliaters.
Clays are used for their exfoliating properties and thier ability to draw impurities from the skin. These are incorporated into the clay masks and exfoliators.
